Our Team

Tom Pabin, President/FounderTom Pabin, President/Founder
Tom is the founder and owner of Class 101. His career as a business owner and college/financial planner has spanned almost two decades. In that time he has helped students and families save millions of dollars on higher education. In Kentucky, Tom has worked with learners from over 70 high schools conducting financial aid workshops, one-on-one college planning, ACT/SAT prep classes, and facilitating visits to universities across the country. Working with students across 16 states and doing direct consultation with over 20 high schools, he’s helped more than 2,200 students find their way to college and significantly improved their scores on over 6,000 tests. In his spare time, Tom enjoys traveling and being involved with his sons’ basketball teams; he is husband to Christie and father of two boys, Matthew and Thomas.

Winni van Gessel, Franchise Owner,  Lexington, Kentucky Office
For 25 years, Winni has taught people of all ages, from Pre-K to graduate students. Most recently, he was the Interim Headmaster and College Counselor at the Montessori High School of Kentucky. With a Masters in Education from the University of Kentucky, Winni’s extensive work and research experience has allowed him to use his passion for education in unique ways for Class 101. He enjoys working directly with students, helping them improve their ACT/SAT test scores, and motivating them toward academic success through personalized education environments in which they can thrive. He lives in Lexington with his wife Ania, and his two daughters, Corie and Veronica.

Kim Stegemoller is a leader with a proven track record of outstanding achievement through personal initiative, creativity, and the ability to motivate and lead high school students. Kim’s years of experience in the publishing industry brings excellent writing, organizational, and communication skills to our students. She has a Bachelor of Science from Purdue University in Computer Information Systems.


Kim pursued Class 101 as a franchise owner following an entire year of helping her first child, Alyssa; affordably enroll into the University of her Choice. After Alyssa received multiple significant academic scholarships from highly respected Universities, she settled on her first choice. Even though Kim successfully helped her daughter with her application process she realized that there were even more scholarship opportunities. Kim has a vision of helping families fulfill their educational and financial goals by executing individualized strategic plans for each high school student.


Kim is actively involved in her church’s youth ministry program. She and her husband, Randy, have 3 children Alyssa, Danielle, and Harrison.

Randy Stegemoller is a leader in the college admissions and planning marketplace, and owner of Class 101, College Finance & Planning. Randy has appeared on “Your Money” with David Hays on WGCL 1370 and is an active member of the Indiana College Success Coalition. Mr. Stegemoller’s mission is to provide families with expert guidance in the college search, admissions, and financial aid process. Randy helps high school students identify their college goals as well as support them in the steps necessary to achieve those goals in a cost-effective manner. Randy also is responsible for keeping students up to date with our Twitter Feeds @MyClass_101.


Following his undergraduate studies in Biology & Chemistry at Olivet Nazarene University, Mr. Stegemoller began his career in business by launching and leading three successful companies. During his graduate work in Strategic Planning at the University of Notre Dame, he led several highly specialized sales teams in a Fortune 500 company.


Mr. Stegemoller’s passion for building success in others, has been what has led him to start Class 101 in Indiana with his wife, Kim Stegemoller. Randy and Kim have been blessed with a wonderful family made up of three great children; Alyssa, Danielle, and Harrison. Randy finds his time away from work on the golf course enjoying the great outdoors.

Cathy is the owner of Class 101-Charlotte, where she began helping students with the college planning process in 2016. In that time, as a part of the Class 101 franchise, she has helped students and families save millions of dollars on higher education. In North Carolina, Cathy has worked with students conducting one-on-one college planning, preparation for standardized tests, facilitating visits to universities across the country and conducting financial aid workshops for families.


Cathy earned her undergraduate degree in Marketing from Mississippi State University. She has worked with young people in many different capacities including serving as a youth group leader, coaching competitive speech teams, and working with many volunteer organizations. She and her husband, Mark, have one daughter who is attending a college that meets her factors and will be graduating debt free.

Debbie CrumrineDebbie Crumrine, Franchise Owner, Columbus, Ohio Office
Debbie and her husband have been in the insurance business for over 20 years.  When her first of her four children began high school, she realized the importance of college planning.  As a Westerville Ohio GEM (Great Educator Mentor) Award recipient, she knew that helping young people was her passion.  When the opportunity to purchase a Class 101 franchise in Columbus, Ohio became available in 2008, she knew it would be the perfect fit to maintain her mentorship role.


Debbie has been married to her husband, Tom, for 20 years.  Together, they have four children; Trey, 18, Taylor, 16, Talia, 13, and Tyra, 10.

Veronica was combining her job as an operations manager at Athena Insurance Group with her passion for education, tutoring children in ESOL and Spanish in her birth country (Spain), in her free time she was a translator for a non-profit organization (Plan Internacional Espana) until she moved 4 years ago to Florida.


She became a Class 101 franchisee after helping her daughter navigate the complex college application process. Veronica found that Class 101 was the perfect combination that included her passion for helping students and her years of experience as an operations manager. She wants to help students in her community and also help international students that would like to study in an American school.


She has a Master in Education from Universidad de Santiago de Compostela (Spain) and she is accredited as a Spanish teacher in Florida where she lives with her children, Xana and Martin.

For the past 13 years, Kim has worked with students, parents and teachers nationwide, throughout Appalachia and in Eastern Kentucky to provide resources for students to be successful in college. Prior to coming to My Class 101, Kim was the Program Director for the Appalachian College Association working with faculty and students in 36 small liberal arts colleges in five states throughout Central Appalachia. Kim has also has experience working with students, parents and teachers through her work with the Berea College GEAR UP Partnership and the Center for Parent Leadership at the Prichard Committee. Kim has earned an undergraduate degree in Organizational Communication from Western Kentucky University and a Master of Arts degree in Organizational Development and Leadership from Gonzaga University. Kim enjoys working with students and their families in order to provide the resources necessary for students to achieve their dreams. Kim lives in Berea, KY with her husband Curt and her two children Abby and Eliot.

Karen Feamster, Franchise Owner, Franklin, Tennessee Office
Karen Feamster has been a leader with students of all ages for the past 30 years.  She has a Master of Science in Accounting from the University of Kentucky, and holds an active CPA license in the State of Tennessee.  She worked as an auditor in the Comptroller’s Office for 10 years before stepping down to care for her young family.  Her true love has been working with students and encouraging them to pursue their dreams.  She has worked with children’s choirs at Calvary UMC and her home church of Franklin FUMC, taught Sunday School, mentored youth through confirmation, and lead teams on mission trips.  She has been active as a Girl Scout and Girl Scout Leader for over 25 years.  She currently leads a community troop of 20 girls who are passionate about community service and outdoor adventures.  Both of Karen’s daughters  were clients of Tom Pabin’s during their college search, and as a very satisfied customer, Karen is excited to bring the Class 101 franchise to Tennessee.  Karen lives in Franklin, TN with her husband Mike, four dogs, and two daughters, Shannon and Laura Catherine.


Tejal Mamtora, Franchise Owner, Katy, Texas Office

Tejal Mamtora is the owner of Class 101-Katy, where her mission is to help students and families navigate the complex steps leading to successful and affordable college admission. Class 101, a 19-year-old company, has helped over 3,100 students earn over $136,336,000 in scholarships, study and prepare over 8,000 ACT/SAT tests and attend over 300 colleges around the world. In Katy, Tejal works with students conducting one-on-one college planning, preparation for standardized tests, facilitating visits to universities across the country and conducting financial aid workshops for families.


Tejal earned her Bachelor of Commerce Degree in accounting and finance from the University of Bombay, India. After a successful career as an accountant and auditor, Tejal made a direction change and felt called to help students and families through the college planning process. She is excited to bring Class 101’s proven methods to the Katy community. Tejal and her husband, Ashok, are the parents of two boys who will soon begin the college planning process themselves.

Jason Williams, originally from Shreveport, LA is acutely aware of the importance of education. He earned a Bachelors of Science Degree with a minor in English from University of South Louisiana, which is now University of Louisiana at Lafayette, received an Associates Degree form Delta College of Arts and Technology in Nursing and holds credentials as a Nationally Licensed Registered Polysomnography Technician. He continues to encourage his children to pursue their educational dreams. Jason enjoys spending time with his boys and sharing his love of education and golf.


Through a series of fortunate divine circumstances, Jason became aware of Class 101 and its goals for making a difference in children’s lives. With one child yet to go to college and many nieces, nephews and friends with High School children, he sees the immediate need for a program like Class 101 in Lafayette, which assists students in preparing for college in addition to shedding the light on some of the ways to help make it more affordable for parents.

Adrienne Jordan-LeBean is a resident of Lafayette, LA where she lives with four of her five children. While Bryan “Anthony” Jr. has been attending LSU, Jasmine, Arielle, Jaden and Laila aspire to follow their brother’s footsteps.
Education is the number one priority in Adrienne’s household. She acquired an Associate in Nursing Degree at Louisiana State University in Eunice. For the last 18 ½ years, Adrienne worked as a nurse manager/administrator of a community clinic in North Lafayette.


When Anthony made a 32 on his ACT but only received TOPS and a small work-study grant, there was still a moderate amount to pay. Adrienne quickly started to research assistance for Jasmine but was left overwhelmed and frustrated. She found Class 101 and realized that by bringing Class 101’s services to Lafayette and the surrounding area families, they could overcome some of the frustrations she had.

Donna HillDonna Hill, Franchise Owner, Little Rock, Arkansas Office
Donna Hill has been involved in education for the past 30 years. She earned a Masters degree in Professional and Technical Writing while homeschooling her five children. Upon completing that degree, she became an English faculty member at College of the Ouachitas and was eventually promoted to Vice President of Student Affairs. A true lifelong learner, she earned a second Masters degree in Higher Education Leadership and hopes one day to earn a doctorate in education.


Through her experiences at the college, Donna became a statewide advocate for student success, both at the high school and the college level. She received a Developmental Education Specialist Certificate from Appalachian State University and works diligently to help students test out of remedial courses in college. Donna believes that given the right tools, all students can achieve success.

Dennis Brown, Franchise Owner, Louisville, Kentucky Office
Dennis Brown is keenly aware of the steps needed to reach goals and brings his expertise and experience from his background as an accountant and executive with Brown Forman to his role as a college planner. From ACT Prep, to creating college lists, to conducting financial aid workshops, he works with students and families to help them maneuver the entire college planning process. Dennis earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Business and his Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Kentucky Wesleyan College. Dennis lives in Crestwood, KY with his wife Debbie and their two children, J.D. and Erin.




Hollie HoltHollie Holt, Franchise Owner, Nashville, Tennessee Office
Hollie Holt joins Class 101 after a successful career in post secondary education. She has worked directly with aspiring entrepreneurs and business students and she has seen first hand the importance of proper college planning. Hollie earned her undergraduate degree in Communications from the University of Tennessee at Martin. She has worked with young people in many different capacities including scholarship committees and service organizations. She was the Director of the UT Martin School of Business Internship program where she helped college students find internships that provided a jump start on their careers. She enjoys working with young people and helping them reach their goals by selecting the right major, increasing their testing scores, and finding the right college choices for them.


Over a period of years Hollie helped her own kids prepare for college by working on their grades, trying to increase ACT test scores, researching majors, visiting schools, completing applications, filling out financial aid forms, writing essays, and trying to get scholarships, while working and raising a family at the same time. She knew there were other parents who needed help working through the college process like she had, and when she found Class 101 she knew that it was the answer to help parents with getting their kids into college. So much so, that she joined the company.


Hollie and her husband, Steve, are the parents of four children, Cole, Carlie, Harrison and Evan.

Tim Shanahan, Franchise Owner, Rochester, NY Office

Tim Shanahan is the owner of Class 101-Rochester NY. He became a college planner following a twenty-three-year career as a criminal investigator for the federal government. Although his main career was in law-enforcement, education has been a large part of Tim’s life for many years.   He earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Notre Dame, a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the State University of New York at Brockport and is currently working on his PhD from the Indiana Institute of Technology. In addition, Tim has served as a part time adjunct college professor in the Rochester NY area since 2005.


In December 2010 Tim discovered his passion for college planning when he began assisting the oldest of his three sons explore his college future. After hundreds of hours of research and dozens of college visits, Tim realized that he loved the entire process of helping others pursue their college dreams. He continued the same process with his younger sons, helping all three obtain full tuition scholarships (and one child a full cost of attendance scholarship worth more than $260,000) to three different colleges (two private universities and one major state university). While Tim is aware that much of the credit belongs to the hard work and determination of his children, he also knows that proper planning and guidance helped him and his wife send their three children to the colleges of their choice without paying one penny in tuition.


When deciding on a second career, Tim knew he wanted to help high school students find the right college for them at the right price for their parents. Tim’s research led him to the proven systems and success of Class 101, and he knew that he had found the company where he could best help others obtain their college dreams.






Janese and Philip Cooper, Franchise Owners, Savannah, Georgia Office

Philip (Tony) Cooper is the owner of Class 101-Savannah. Along with his wife, Janese, they have been instrumental in improving the lives of young people in their community. Philip has served on the board of the Frank Callen Boys and Girls Club of Savannah since 2002 and has held the position of board chair. He also serves as an assistant basketball coach at New Hampstead High School. Janese has been a Kumon instructor since 2007 and has also served as the Finance Officer of the Chatham Savannah Youth Futures Authority.


Philip and Janese see the need for college planning in their community and by bringing Class 101 to Savannah they can help high school students get into better colleges and qualify for higher amounts of scholarships and financial aid. They recognize that the college application process is complicated, competitive and stressful, resulting in students who don’t get enough, or any, financial aid and often end up at the wrong school. Philip and Janese are prepared to help students and families go through the college planning process using the proven methods of Class 101. The Coopers are the parents of two teenagers, both headed to college in a few years.

Lisa Olsen joined Class 101 as a franchise owner after a successful career teaching at both the secondary and the college level. She has seen first hand the difference that proper college planning can make in the lives of high school students.

As a college instructor, Lisa saw that many students were unprepared for the rigor that college required. She believed that through proper college planning many of these issues could be addressed and that students would be more successful if they had received guidance during the college planning process. Lisa discovered that Class 101 had made this their mission for the past 20 years and she made the decision to join with them with the opening of her location. Students in Southeastern Pennsylvania now have access to the best in college planning.



Nina Heckler, Franchise Owner, West Tennessee  Office

Nina is the owner of Class 101-West Tennessee, where her mission is to help students and families navigate the complex steps leading to successful and affordable college admission. Nina earned her B.S. from the University of Central Florida, an M.A. from both Baylor University and St. Mary’s University and her Ph.D. in Sociology and Educational Technology from the University of Alabama. She has served as a college professor and department chair in the field of Sociology and Family Studies. Her 15+ years in academia, coupled with her 5+ years of community counseling, has highlighted the need that students have for direction and focus when making plans for college. She is excited to bring Class 101’s proven methods and personalized service to college bound students in her community.

Yaw Chang has taught at the college level for the past 27 years. He has experienced first hand the importance of considering the right factors when selecting a college. After having successfully helped his own children with the college planning process, Yaw, along with his wife, Li-Shing, made the decision to become a part of Class 101 by opening a franchise in Wilmington, NC.
